NagNav

Privacy Policy

Effective November 2, 2026

NagNav ("we") is a free navigation app made by an individual developer in British Columbia, Canada. This policy explains what the app does with information. Short version: no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and we don't sell or share your data.

What the app uses

Your location. NagNav uses your device's precise location only during a trip you start, to draw your position, speak upcoming turns, notice a missed turn and detect arrival. These checks run on your phone. If you allow it, location continues while the screen is locked during that trip; it stops when the trip ends or you tap STOP. Location is not stored by the app after the trip.

Route and search requests. To get a route, the app sends your start point and destination coordinates to our server at nagnav-api.aquamarinea.com. When you search, it sends the text you typed and, to show nearby results first, your current position. Each request also carries a random identifier created when the app starts, used only to apply fair-use limits; it is not linked to you and changes every time the app restarts.

What our server does

Map display

Map images are loaded directly from OpenFreeMap, which, like any web server, receives your IP address and which map area is being shown.

What we don't do

No user accounts, no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs, no sale or sharing of personal information, and no use of data across other companies' apps or websites.

On your phone

The app stores one setting on your device: that you've seen the safety notice. Deleting the app removes it.

Children

NagNav is a driving app and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices and rights

You can turn location access off at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Under Canada's PIPEDA and British Columbia's PIPA you may ask what personal information we hold about you and request corrections; because we don't keep personal data, there is usually nothing to return. Contact us with any privacy question or complaint, and you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date.
